Studying Makes Me Rich - Chapter 10
Zhou Xiu was
assigned to Classroom 25 for the exam. Du Fei Yang and Tan Ming were also
assigned to the same exam room. Du Fei Yang folded his hands and chanted,
"Basking in the glory of the study god Zhou Xiu." Zhou Xiu put down
her backpack and looked around. She noticed that Xi ShaoYuan and Lu Ling Shan
were also in this exam room. Zhou Xiu couldn't help but marvel at the
coincidence that both of them were assigned to the same exam room.
Zhou Xiu put away
her backpack and took out a black water-based pen to start answering the
questions seriously. The Chinese exam in the morning was somewhat difficult,
and the recitation of ancient poems exceeded the syllabus. Zhou Xiu had
memorized all the required texts for this semester in advance to earn money.
She didn't waste much time and wrote smoothly until the composition section.
After finishing the
paper, Zhou Xiu had some extra time and checked it again. Two hours passed, and
after the exam, Du Fei Yang looked like a fish that wanted to die. "It's
over, it depends on Chinese and English to save my grades. What kind of
terrible questions were those? Ming Ming, lend me some pocket money next
month."
Tan Ming pushed Du
Fei Yang away and said, "Get lost, get lost, get lost." Tan Ming was
in a bad mood. He could see his love rival's back of the head when he lifted
his head, and he imagined him holding the goddess's hand, dating her, and his
whole being was in a mess. He had no intention of writing the Chinese exam.
During the exam, Lu
Ling Shan looked at Xi Shao Yuan a few more times after she finished writing
her paper. Tan Ming felt as if he had eaten a lemon, and his heart was in
chaos. After the exam, the candidates gradually dispersed. Zhou Xiu went to a
self-study table in the corridor and habitually took out the math paper to do
some questions. When she wrote the last multiple-choice question, the pen in
her hand hesitated for a moment.
At this moment, a
voice drifted over from behind. "Classmate, you should choose option C for
this question." Zhou Xiu had written option B. She put away the paper and
glanced at it from the corner of her eye, but didn't recognize the voice. Zhou
Xiu often wrote exams in public places and occasionally encountered students
who talked to her halfway through. But she was in a hurry to go eat and ignored
the student.
The afternoon exam
was math. Mr. Huang walked into Classroom 25 with a thick stack of papers and
slowly wrote the exam rules on the blackboard, "Closed-book exam, 120
minutes, no reference materials allowed." Mr. Huang said solemnly:
"Take the exam
with integrity and be an honest person. Since I am the invigilator, don't let
me catch any cheating behavior." He scanned the room and unexpectedly
noticed Zhou Xiu. Mr. Huang frowned and disappointingly shifted his gaze away.
His impression of Zhou Xiu was extremely bad.
In his decades of
teaching, no student dared to disobey his discipline. Class 24 students were
already difficult to manage and wild, and Zhou Xiu's defiance further
encouraged the class. She led the entire class to make a mess, and Mr. Huang
got a headache whenever he saw her.
Mr. Huang stared at
Zhou Xiu as she put her backpack on the podium. He suddenly said, "Wait a
minute, Zhou Xiu, show me your backpack." Zhou Xiu stopped her steps and
calmly handed over her backpack. She looked at the math teacher with a cold
gaze.
Mr. Huang searched
through Zhou Xiu's books and suddenly found a blank test paper inside. He
picked up the paper from the ground, glanced at it with a solemn expression,
and gradually turned black. He threw the test paper at Zhou Xiu and angrily
asked, "Zhou Xiu, explain why there is a test paper in your
backpack?"
Zhou Xiu was
stunned. She looked at the test paper that Mr. Huang had taken out of her
backpack, and then looked at the math test paper that was about to be
distributed, with the same questions. Her mind buzzed, feeling a bit surprised.
She couldn't understand how the math test paper could be in her backpack.
Mr. Huang finally
caught Zhou Xiu's little tail and coldly said, "You're so good, you dare
to cheat under my nose!" He stared at Zhou Xiu, and with a trash-like
gaze, looked her over. "You don't have to take the test, and your math
exam score will be recorded as zero."
The other students
in the exam room were completely stunned, not expecting to see this scene. Zhou
Xiu was also stunned for a moment, and quickly reacted, "Wait a minute,
Mr. Huang, I have reason to suspect that you are framing me."
"Am I wrong?
Teacher, you never wanted me to get good grades. You didn't even let me take
the weekly tests and you broke the promise to apologize to me." This exam
was very important to Zhou Xiu, she wanted to take the top 5% of the class, and
she couldn't afford to miss the math test.
The other students
watching on the sidelines had different expressions. "What is she
saying?" Did they hear it correctly? Mr. Huang personally caught Zhou Xiu
cheating under his nose, challenging the teacher's authority, and now she was
even arguing back.
If Mr. Huang could
still physically punish students like he used to, he would have kicked Zhou Xiu
out of the exam room with one foot. Zhou Xiu remained calm and said with a
clear voice, "You don't check other students' backpacks, but you singled
me out for inspection."
"You are
holding so many test papers in your hands, you can easily put one in my
backpack and accuse me of cheating. Anyway, you are the teacher, and whatever
you say is right." What does "accuse me of cheating" mean?
Mr. Huang's chest
was heaving, and he almost had a heart attack. Zhou Xiu concluded with a slow
tone, "The monitoring cameras in the classroom only monitor students, the
podium cannot be monitored, who knows what you did to my backpack just
now."
Mr. Huang roared,
"Get out, Zhou Xiu!" Zhou Xiu spread out her hands and continued
speaking, "You can frame and accuse me randomly. If it wasn't you, it
could be someone else. For example, if Luling Shan put the test paper in my bag
before..."
The students in the
exam room had different expressions, especially the students from the Rocket
class. "What's going on with Luling Shan? Why is she relevant?" The
students from Class 24 were already laughing hysterically. Xia Shaoyuan was below
the podium and unexpectedly gave Zhou Xiu a glance. She seemed to have changed
somehow.
Mr. Huang was so
angry that he threw Zhou Xiu's bag in her face. "Zhou Xiu, shut
up!!!!" He had never seen such a shameless person before! Zhou Xiu blinked
and picked up her bag from the ground.
Mr. Huang covered
his heart and turned to the other students. "Check your bags, I want to
see who dares to cheat today. Anyone caught cheating will be punished!"
After the commotion, Mr. Huang gradually caught several students who had cheat
sheets with them, three of whom were from Class 24. The girl who was caught
cheating glared at Zhou Xiu with hatred.
Mr. Huang sneered,
"I wasn't wrong. Your class is really rubbish. One after another, they're
all cheating." Zhou Xiu coldly said, "I don't accept your
accusations. I haven't seen the test paper. I refuse to accept a zero score for
the math exam." She paused and continued, "If you think I cheated,
give me another test paper. If I fail, I will drop out immediately. If I pass,
will you apologize to me, Mr. Huang?"
There was silence
in the room. Zhou Xiu repeated firmly, "Will you dare to apologize?"
Mr. Huang felt that heart attack feeling again. Why do students who cheat in
exams these days have the nerve to be so righteous?
At this moment, the
head of the math department, who was on patrol, noticed that there was
something strange in the atmosphere of the exam room for Class 25. He walked in
and asked about the situation. He looked at Zhou Xiu and Mr. Huang, and like a
peacemaker, said, "I'm here for something. You're Zhou Xiu, right? Come
here, I have plenty of test papers. This is the backup paper, you can use it
for the exam later."
"For the other
students, do you want to write or not? I'll give you a fair chance."
The students in the
exam room had strange expressions. This was... Old Wang, who loved to give
difficult questions! The students who had cheat sheets with them wanted to take
the test paper, but also didn't dare to.
Old Wang looked at
the students with cheat sheets and said gently, "Since you've decided to
write, be brave like Zhou Xiu. If you fail, you'll drop out, okay?"
Zhou Xiu gladly
took the test paper and returned to her seat as the exam preparation bell rang.
The weaker students shook their heads in frustration and left the exam room
with their bags. Mr. Huang, in his rage, called Zhou Xiu to the podium and
demanded, "Zhou Xiu, come up here and write the exam. I'll watch
you." Zhou Xiu neatly packed her pens, pencils, and eraser and walked up
to the podium to take the exam. Every time she finished a question, a sound of
"hmm" would come from beside her, which made her a little
uncomfortable, but after writing for a while, she became immersed in the sea of
questions.
...
After the math exam
was over, Du Feiyang walked up to Zhou Xiu and asked worriedly, "Xiu Xiu,
are you okay?" "Do you feel confident about the math exam you just
wrote?" If she failed this time, she would have to drop out. Du Feiyang
was wondering how Zhou Xiu could be so brave as to say that she would drop out
if she failed. Zhou Xiu packed her bag and remained silent.
Tan Ming saw Zhou
Xiu and asked with an annoyed tone, "Zhou Xiu, what were you talking about
with Luling Shan just now? She doesn't even know you, how could she frame you
for cheating?" Zhou Xiu wiped her sweaty palms and shrugged, "I was
just using her as an example to illustrate my point." "But why use
her as an example? Did she do something to you?" Du Feiyang punched Tan
Ming and said, "Can't you tell that Xiu Xiu was just joking? Why are you
so aggressive in your speech?" Tan Ming didn't say anything and just gave
Zhou Xiu a cold glance.
Zhou Xiu and her
group returned to their own class, and the incident that had happened in the
exam room for Class 25 had already spread to Class 24.
Hua Xu exclaimed,
applauding, "I heard all about it, Zhou Xiu, you are amazing. You've
clashed with Old Huang again!"
"Daring to write
the exam paper on the podium, you are the first in Yu High School. So
impressive!" she continued.
Hua Xu asked,
"What happened? Why are people saying you cheated?"
Zhou Xiu returned
to her seat and told Hua Xu, "I didn't cheat, it's all been resolved."
After Zhou Xiu
finished speaking, she took out her paper for Integrated Science and began to
work on it.
The girl who was
caught with cheat sheets in Class 24 suddenly spoke, "What kind of good
student are you pretending to be now, Zhou Xiu? You're so stupid, you dragged
others down with you."
Hua Xu retorted,
"I wasn't talking about you dragging others down, Yuan Ruoyi. I was
wondering how some people suddenly improved their grades so much... turns out
they were cheating."
Yuan Ruoyi kicked
the desk and replied, "Who are you calling stupid? It was Zhou Xiu who
brought backup paper and got us in trouble."
"You're
foolish and unaware, if you can't do it, you can't do it. Why cheat? At Zhou
Xiu's shining moment, you brought her down," Hua Xu continued.
The students in
Class 24 were at a loss, watching the two girls argue. They didn't know whom to
support.
Although they had
enjoyed watching the drama earlier, they now realized that if Zhou Xiu really
failed the exam, she would probably have to drop out. Old Huang was not easy to
deal with. For a moment, they didn't know whether to feel sorry for her or to
say that she was too bold.
In the end, Zhou Xiu focused on completing the multiple-choice questions for Integrated Science amidst the strange glances of her classmates.
